Today with the advancement of technology, "a truly revolutionary vehicle" has been revealed by Vauxhall Astra Sports.
It is the new estate version of the Vauxhall Astra Sports called the Sports Tourer, named Ampera.
The Ampera is an electric car, but it also has small petrol motor, which keeps the battery charged that in turn provides it a longer range than cars which depend only on a battery.
The newly launched vehicle has the same wheelbase, front as well as rear tracks and suspension layout as the hatch.
The vehicle has an increased load length of 1,835mm over the hatch. Its load volume is increased by 30 litres to 500 litres with the rear seats up.
Six engines will be available from launch.
The Ampera has put Vauxhall to the leading position in an electric vehicle technology. It is a very modern "lifestyle estate" as it can act in three modes: comprising Standard, which adjusts to suit the driver's behavior; Tour mode, with softer damper settings; and Sport, in which throttle and steering responses are sharpened and the damping stiffened.
According to reports, the car will be on sale by 2012.
