Ireland’s U- 19 Makes the Winning Start of UEFA Championship

UEFA Championship is on and the first win has been marked by the Ireland under 19s. After making this winning start, Ireland U-19 Manager, Mr. Paul Doolin praised his side last night and appreciated their game, which made them win the start of the European Championship finals campaign in Romania.

By maintaining the best timings, Defender Anthony O'Connor succeeded in breaking his scoring duck in netting a brace against Greece. Undoubtedly, Greece played well and plenty of flair was seen in their attacks but Ireland made the final victory.

Earlier there was a freak outbreak of thunder and lightning on the outskirts of the city resulting which, the earlier Group B game between Spain and Belgium was abandoned. There were also reports that the weather freak outbreak could put this fixture also in a serious doubt but all was well at the end and the game was played.

Though the heavy rain delayed the referee Pawel Gill’s confirmation to play the match until five minutes before kick-off but the match was finally played.

"I still think we probably shaded the game and this result gives us a good platform to go on in the group. Considering the boiling weather we've had in recent days, you want to play a game on a calm evening, but it turned out like a hurricane,” said Doolin.
