After having slashed the cost of its Surface RT tablets by $150 a few weeks back, Microsoft has now announced a $100 price-cut for its Surface Pro tablets --- a move which marks a new global promotion by the company for its Surface devices.
According to the information shared on the Microsoft website about the new promotion, a $100 discount will be offered on the Surface Pro tablets, with effect from August 4. The lower-price offer for Surface Pro will be available through August 29 till supplies last.
The website post also revealed that the discount on the Surface Pro tablet will be available to consumers in the U. S., Canada, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Consumers in Australia will, as of now, not be able to avail the Surface Pro discounts, though they will likely be included in the promotion later.
As a result of the discount, the 64GB model of the Surface Pro tablet now costs $799; while the 128GB model costs $899, excluding the cover. When the two models of the Surface Pro tablets hit the markets earlier this year, they were priced at $999 and $899 respectively.
About the move to discount the Surface Pro tablets, a Microsoft spokesman said in a prepared statement on Sunday: "We've been seeing great world-wide success with Surface RT pricing and keyboard-cover promotions over the past several months and are proud to offer Surface Pro at more affordable prices."
